Drums and Crates 1783 1/72 QF 25-Pounder Field Gun

The QF 25-inch gun was the most widely used gun in the British and Commonwealth armies during World War II.
Its success was due to the fact that it was a reliable, durable and easy to use gun.
The two most significant features of this gun were: firstly, the circular base platform which served both to absorb recoil and to facilitate turning the gun to fire in any direction, and secondly, its ammunition trailer with which it formed a tandem for transport.
It was an 87.6mm (3.45-inch) calibre gun of which over 13,000 were produced throughout the war, mainly in the UK at the Vickers-Armstrongs, Baker Perkins and Wird plants, although some were also built in Canada and even Australia.
