IBG 72167 1/72 3Ro Italian Truck with Viberti Tank Trailer

The 3Ro was a heavy military truck developed in Italy before the Second World War and became one of the most important transport vehicles of the Italian armed forces. Designed for heavy-duty service, it featured a robust chassis, rear-wheel drive, and a reliable five-cylinder diesel engine, giving it excellent durability and range. The vehicle was widely used by the Regio Esercito (Royal Italian Army) for transporting troops, ammunition, supplies, artillery equipment, and towing duties on various fronts, including North Africa, the Balkans, and the Eastern Front. Its strong construction allowed it to operate under difficult battlefield conditions and on poorly maintained roads.
A special configuration combined the 3Ro with a Viberti tank trailer, a heavy transport trailer designed for carrying armoured vehicles. This combination was used to move tanks and other tracked vehicles without excessive wear on their engines and suspensions, allowing combat vehicles to be relocated over long distances more efficiently. The Viberti trailer greatly increased the logistical flexibility of Italian armoured units by enabling recovery, repair, and deployment operations away from rail transport routes. Although the truck and trailer were not combat vehicles themselves, they played an essential role in maintaining the mobility and operational readiness of armoured formations.
