The M26A1 ''lemon grenade'', first introduced during the Korean War, replaced the iconic Mk 2 ''pineapple'' grenade and became the primary U.S. fragmentation grenade throughout the Vietnam War.
Typically stored in fiberboard or wooden crates holding 25 to 30 grenades, proper storage and handling were essential to ensure battlefield readiness.
