The Romans referred to the Celtic tribes of France, Switzerland, Belgium and Holland collectively as "Gauls." Fierce and territorial, they were known for the longswords and decorated shields they carried into battle. The Celts warred most often amongst themselves, but united under their political and military leader Vercingetorix to resist Roman incursions into their area. Despite some early success, Vercingetorix and the Celts were defeated in the battle of Alesia in 52 B.C. Includes 40 highly detailed figures in various battle poses, swords and shields.
