Battlefield firepower for the Union.

Field artillery offered military leaders the ability to move the guns to where they were needed most, and more firepower than possible with the lighter and more mobile guns of horse artillery. Once in position, field artillery was often left there and used for sustained bombardments until the battle was won or the position was overrun. Field artillery was drawn by 4- or 6-horse teams. Cannoneers would ride the left-hand horse and hold the reins for the "off" horse. This highly detailed set includes 13 soldiers, 8 horses and 2 mounted cannon.
