The F-4E/2020 Terminator is the ultimate version of Turkey's modernization program for its aging F-4E Phantom II fighters. The Turkish military entered into an agreement with Israel's IAI to upgrade the F-4E, a project that was completed and entered service in the early 2000s. As a classic Cold War-era aircraft, the F-4 received a significant boost in avionics, weaponry, and survivability through this upgrade. New systems like the EL/M-2032 radar greatly enhanced target detection and targeting capabilities. Additionally, it is compatible with the AN/ASW-55 datalink pod, AN/ASQ-153 targeting pod, and the EL/L-8222 electronic warfare pod, further adapting the aircraft to modern combat requirements.
To strengthen the Turkish Air Force's highly prioritized ground attack capabilities, the upgraded F-4E/2020 can now carry AGM-142 air-to-ground missiles under its wings. Moreover, to enhance its long-range strike capabilities, Turkey developed the SOM cruise missile, which has a range exceeding 250 kilometers. This cruise missile is equipped with advanced infrared guidance and a two-way data link, providing Turkey with strategic strike capabilities.
This latest MENG LS-020 1/48 McDonnell Douglas F-4E/2020 Terminator (Turkish Air Force) model will be 399mm long and 245mm wide once assembled. This kit includes a metal pitot tube, pre-cut stainless steel PE parts and painting masks, and three paint schemes. It also includesAGM-142 air-to-surface missiles, SOM air-to-surface cruise missiles, one AN/ASW-55 data link pod, one AN/ASQ-153 electro-optical laser designator targeting pod and one EL/L-8222 Electronic Countermeasures jamming pod.
