Metallic Details MDR14469 1/144 Supermarine Spitfire Mk.Vb Fighter Aircraft
The kit consists of highly detailed, high-quality 3D printed resin parts, photo-etched parts, a vacuformed cockpit canopy, and decals to decorate your model. All components are produced using modern manufacturing technologies to ensure accurate geometry, fine surface detail, and realistic scale appearance.
The Supermarine Spitfire Mk.Vb was one of the most important and widely produced variants of the famous British fighter aircraft of World War II. Developed from earlier versions of the Spitfire, the Mk.V was introduced to provide improved performance against the latest German fighters appearing over Europe.
The Mk.Vb was powered by the Rolls-Royce Merlin 45 engine and featured the "B" wing, armed with two 20 mm Hispano cannons and four .303-inch Browning machine guns. This combination provided considerably greater firepower than the machine-gun-only armament of earlier Spitfire variants.
The Spitfire Mk.V entered operational service in 1941 and was extensively used by the Royal Air Force in Europe, North Africa, the Mediterranean, and other theatres of war. It was also supplied to several Allied air forces and became one of the most recognizable Spitfire variants of the conflict.
More than 6,400 Spitfire Mk.V aircraft of all subtypes were produced, making it one of the most numerous versions of the Spitfire family.
