Soon after Pearl Harbor had been unexpectedly attacked in 1941, US Army Air Force begun to seize huge number of civil aircraft. These seized aircraft were designated using the USAAF designation system according to which purpose they were intended. UC-85 was designation of the sole Lockheed Orion in USAAF. This machine served with military markings up to 1945 for transport and cargo flights over the USA.
