The McDonnell Douglas F-15 is a single-seat all-weather fighter designed to ensure and maintain air superiority. The F-15 Eagle was developed in the 1970s to equip the US Air Force with an advanced, high-performance fighter. In its evolution, represented by the "C" version, the F-15 is still widely used by the US Air Force, the US National Guard, and the air forces of Israel, Japan, and Saudi Arabia. The F-15C took an active part in the first Gulf War, ensuring air superiority for Coalition troops by shooting down the highest percentage of enemy aircraft. Armed with a 20 mm M61 cannon, it can employ a wide variety of air-to-air missiles. The two powerful Pratt & Whitney F100 engines with afterburners allow the F-15C to reach a speed of Mach 2.5.
