To a large extent, the German Wehrmacht of World War Two had to rely on captured vehicles to expand its motor pool. Concerning US-built and Soviet-built field cars (the Bantam BRC-40, Willys MB, Ford GPW and GAZ-64 - the "Beutewagen"), their relatively small numbers in German service have meant they have previously escaped detailed monographic documentation. That is, until now. It is almost a small miracle that, after nearly 40 years of research, no fewer than 118 contemporary in-service photographs of US and Soviet field cars in German Army service have been gathered to document this previously unexplored subject for the very first time. In addition to the original wartime photographs published in this book, twelve artist's 3D illustrations present, for the first time in full colour, some of the most interesting German camouflage schemes and markings. Nearly all wartime photographs are previously unpublished and are accompanied by a concise history of American, German and Soviet field cars of World War Two to provide historical context. The book also includes technical walk-arounds and a colour section featuring preserved vehicles, offering modellers and military vehicle enthusiasts valuable references for camouflage, realistic weathering and authentic settings.
